Milling Machine
Zimmermann model milling machines are characterised by their large operating ranges, rotary tables and precisely adjustable compound tables. Our milling machines can be used both for free-hand milling and for machining clamped workpieces. Additionally available digital position indicators simplify precise working in all axes.
Milling Machine FZ 0
This machine of which we have sold some thousands during the past years, has proved a success in the model making industry. Time-wasting manual work is reduced with the universal bench pattern miller and router FZ 0. The surface of even the smallest work pieces can be accurately machined. It is also possible to machine limited, bevelled surfaces, notches, recesses, chamfers, grooves, eyes etc. more rapidly and more accurately. Several fences and special tools permit free-hand guiding of the work piece. The machine is easily and rapidly adjustable, having a slide rest with micro adjustment to carry the milling unit. The moveable setting bar with centring hole and scale can be clamped in every position. Radii can be machined by locating the work piece in the centring hole by means of a centring or a locating pin as well as positioning and clamping of the setting bar.
The compound table with the longitudinal, transverse and rotary movement is fitted and clamped into the dovetail groove of the machine table. The work table is equipped with 4 T-slots and a centring disc 55 mm dia. H7. Longitudinal and transverse movement of the table can be made by means of the handwheels and scale rings (0.1 mm reading accuracy). The rotary table movement is by hand. The complete compound table can be subsequently mounted as well on all machines already delivered. Adjustable canting base 0 to 90° for milling inclined surfaces and recesses. The work piece is secured by means of clamps or wood screws in the existing holes. Table size 300 x 195 mm with removable stop. Total height at 0° is 50 mm.

Milling Machine FZ 1
The universal milling machine FZ 1 with its well arranged handwheels, levers and graduated scales has been successfully proved for small, accurate patterns, cores and other auxiliary equipment for resin model making. Freehand milling (e.g. surface milling) as well as the exact machining of work pieces from wood, resin and light alloys in connection with the compound table are the main features of this machine. Milling head and overhanging arm are of modern box type design. The spindle is equipped with a built-in quick change chuck ISO 30. Freehand milling may be performed only at a speed of 14 000 rpm.
The work table is provided with a dovetail groove for supporting and laterally moving the compound table. For freehand milling a dovetail cover bar is put into the groove. A very sturdy longitudinal fence with fast and fine adjustment can be mounted on the milling table.
The overhanging arm with the milling head can be moved up and down by a hand wheel with a vernier of 0.1 mm or by a motor (special accessory). The quill with scale of 2 % contraction operates with a hand wheel and fine adjustment. The milling head can be swivelled on either side (+/– 90 degrees) and can be locked in 0-position. The milling spindle is equipped with particularly stable bearings.
